For since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him! –Isaiah 64:4
Waiting is a funny thing, right? In this fast paced world we live in, it can be such a difficult thing to do. Just wait.
Isaiah 64:4 is my memory verse for this week because I am being brought out of a period of waiting… and brought into a NEW season of waiting- Waiting to be given further instructions on what it is that I’m supposed to be doing. Have you ever been where I’m at right now? There are days that it can be difficult to just be still and not try to take matters into my own hands. I struggle with this terribly. Anyone else??
When this happens, I have to reflect back on other times that I’ve felt the silence… The stillness. The knowing something is about to happen but I’m just not quite there yet. When I “jump the gun” and try to do the working myself, I simply waste time and distract myself from hearing Him speak. But when I wait- and wait expectantly- I’ll always hear the answer. Might take a while, but it will happen. Then suddenly, the wait is over.
And God moves. And He works. And the reward is so great.
If you really think about it, we’re all waiting for something. Whether it’s a prayer you’ve been anxiously wanting an answer for or it’s a new season of life He’s bringing you into… or maybe you’re simply waiting to greet Him face to Face. (Aren’t we all?!?!) Either way, we’ll all play this waiting game many times over in our lives.
I believe that no matter what we’re going through, He wants us to wait for Him expectantly… eagerly. Wait with hope and patience and perseverance. And yes, my dears, I know it is easier said than done.
I suppose waiting is not so bad after all.
