Natasha is like 4.85 hours away from losing her first tooth (me = 😭) and she was a little nervous this morning about it. So, in true homeschooling fashion 😆, I scrapped the preplanned lesson & instead we did this. I couldn’t help but laugh as I reminisced about my days in dental hygiene school at Pitt where we’d go on rotations our final year to teach kids at different schools in the area, and I’d somehow always botch it and say something off script that TWENTY YEARS LATER I’d still think about. 🤣 And please, I need someone in my DH Class of ‘06 to remind me what the stinking tooth costume was called?! Yes, we had to dress up in costume from time to time… and it was gross. 😆 I spent half the day laughing as I remembered stories from my college days… the awkward patients that came into our clinic (the clown!!), and I even found my old yearbook/dental school directory. Tashie said, “You look so different.” Yeah, girl. That was your mama two decades ago. 😮‍💨 Time sure has flown by, and while I’m very happy to be doing something else with my life right now, I’m grateful for the time I spent as a dental hygienist & the friendships I made along the way. ❤️Today I went back to my roots (pun intended) and it was so entertaining to me. And now, as a bonus, Tashie isn’t afraid to lose her teeth anymore. She even made a pouch for the tooth fairy. 😉I suppose we’re both growing older, and you know what? It’s not so bad.

I’ve cried *at least* 5 times today. That’s being conservative. It was probably more like 8-12 times. 😉Growing older is a gift I no longer take for granted. Some birthdays hit harder than others, but for the past 5 years or so, I’ve felt the blessing of time more than I previously have before.I woke up today to handmade gifts from my girls. A bracelet strung bead by bead from Nadia, my miraculous girl who once cried in frustration because little tasks like that felt impossible. Her gift means so much more to me than she knows. Then there was the homemade book and painting my very creative Natasha made featuring my beloved childhood bear named Rigsley— a family favorite whose voice (and Australian accent) emerges at the best of times and can make my girls laugh harder than anything else. I’m writing this as Rigsley sits beside me on the couch wearing his own birthday crown… my dear old bear.I spent the morning at church with some of my most favorite people, worshipping next to friends, Dana’s hand in mine— a gift that doesn’t happen as often as we’d like simply because of his work schedule, but one we don’t take for granted when it does. He’s sent me into tears of joy & tears from belly laughter multiple times today. My friends did, too. My sisters sent me words that made me smile wide, and one of my nephews played me happy birthday on the piano through voice text, and I hope I can keep it forever. I received so much love that I don’t think I could ever put into words a proper thank you. But maybe one day I can return the favor.So today I sat around my table, playing cards, eating meals, cutting into cake. And I cried because it’s all a gift. All a blessing. Every part of my life is more than I deserve.God is a great, great gift giver. I’ve been given 38 beautiful years so far, and I pray this next one is spent using whatever gifts He has given me for His good purposes. I will gladly go gray for more of this. ❤️

Scenes from last week…First day of homeschool. Playtime with Natasha while Nadia had ballet. Reading Calvin & Hobbes for family read-aloud time… with Hobbes the kitten. Every day cuteness. Dress up playtime with the girls (where I went to the back of my closet and got out my wedding dress, a dress I wore when Nadia was a flower girl at my friends wedding & I somehow ended up being an adult flower girl alongside her 🤣, and the first dress Dana ever bought me… none of which fit and it made us laugh!). A stupid-good Italian Wedding Stew I made, homemade pierogi because Tashie wanted some and God help me if my girls ever leave home without feeling confident enough to make anything & everything in the kitchen themselves 😉. My unintentional but nearly identical outfit to her. Painting time and prepping for some weekly bread making.The theme is clearly food and fun. And I’m here for it.Blessings upon blessings. ❤️
