Instagram vs. Reality

July 30, 2019

I posted this on IG the other day, and I just had to share it on my blog as well….

“When you look through these photos, can you see how much fun we had blueberry picking together? So. Much. Fun. 😋

In my very best Dwight Schrute voice, lemme just say: FALSE. We did not have fun. Like at all. 🤣🤦 We got to the farm and within 3 minutes there was just one complaint after the next after the next. Then Natasha started crying. Then more complaining. Then more crying. God help us. The whole blueberry picking experience was just totally ridiculous and dumb. I hated it. 🤣 But do you see how easy it could’ve been for me to be all, “So much fun picking berries with the fam! #familyfun #blessed” or some crap? I wanted to toss my camera to the side but I decided to keep snapping just to prove the point that not everything you see is real. So if you, like me, look at people’s pics and think, “Why can’t we have family trips that go so well?”- rest assured. It might not be as sweet as it looks online. 😉 So this is just a friendly reminder that the internet can be trickery, folks. And because I have a personal rule to never post photos without telling the REAL story, you can know for sure that when I say the day was great, it really was… And like yesterday, if it sucked, I’m flat out telling you it sucked. 🤣 (But making muffins with the blueberries this morning? Perfect. ❤️)”

Honestly, if I didn’t tell you we had a crummy time, would you have assumed we were having some good old fashioned family fun? So often I see peoples vacation photos that look SO perfect… but then if you get them to tell the whole story of their trip, you’ll discover that it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows and happy cooperative kids. I’m not saying we should be airing our dirty laundry out on social media and telling the world about our family arguments or what not, but I think it would be healthier for all of us if every so often we shared the real stories. I know I always will, and I’m grateful for those people I follow that keep me laughing with theirs. Life ain’t always a highlight reel… and sometimes it feels good for another person to say, “Yep, same girl. Same.”

Yeah, life sucks right now but I figure it can’t last forever and I’m always looking for the rainbows that get me/our family through till the next day. Keeping it real Xxx

No big secret that I loooooooooove Christmas craft No big secret that I loooooooooove Christmas crafting! 🎄💕 And there’s really no time like the present to prepare to document your holiday. I’m sure my own kids aren’t the only ones out there that get a kick out of making their own books, so I made it easy for you this year. My Christmas Memory Book is a place you can store those treasured photos and memories of the season with prompts and pretty paper designs and fun little things to cut out and glue down to decorate. 😍 Maybe you’re not super crafty and YOU want to use it, too! Go for it. I firmly believe in memories being stored somewhere other than our phones, and friends, it doesn’t have to be complicated. Print some pics you snapped. Get some tape or a glue stick. Write a few words with an old pen if you want. But put them somewhere that you can look back on in later years when those same photos are long since stored in the “cloud.” (Wherever that goes!) You can find a full flip through on YouTube and buy it on Amazon using the link in my bio! 🥰

… and maybe less snowy, too? 😅 Another night … and maybe less snowy, too? 😅Another night of trick or treating in the books. I had a blast with my Michael Jackson (Yeah, Nadia’s still on that. 🤣) and little Princess Aurora! 💕🎃
In less than a week, my baby will be 5. I admitted In less than a week, my baby will be 5. I admittedly (and unsurprisingly) have not been doing super well with it. 🥹 For some reason, I struggle harder with the fifth birthday. It feels like everything speeds up after 5. And, man! I’ve enjoyed her little years!! But today, instead of going to my default mode of crying that my baby is growing up too fast, I’ve made the effort to simply press pause and say thank you to God for five solid years with Natasha. ❤️ It’s a funny thing raising a kid that you’re pretty sure is another version of yourself. 😆 (Like, she is currently making a home…with a pool…for a bunch of ladybugs she found on our porch and I’m having vivid flashbacks to 5 year old MB who did the EXACT SAME THING. Except mine was in a shoebox in my bedroom, much to my mom’s horror when she found the Bug Condo. Pool included.)Anyways… I found an old photo of her the other day and she saw me getting a little weepy over it. I told her it feels like yesterday that I took it and I remembered that morning of snuggling in bed so clearly. She laughed and said, “Let’s do it again!” So that we did. We recreated it with a TON of laughter and I’m pretty sure we’ll be doing this every 5 years from here on out. ☺️ I just wanted to share and say, I’m about to have a 5 year old in a week (and a teenager in a few months!! 😅) and I don’t think I’ve ever EVER felt so grateful to spend each and every day with the precious girls that call me Mama. This mom thing is so dang good.
What is this word “relax” you speak of? 🤣 What is this word “relax” you speak of? 🤣
Not gonna lie… I was a little afraid to release Not gonna lie… I was a little afraid to release this book and read the reviews. You never know what you’re gonna get when you create a Halloween book and flip the narrative from ghosts to the gospel. But I saw a gap in the children’s book section this time of year and wanted to fill it. So to say I’m pleasantly surprised at the 5 star ratings would be an understatement. 🥹 Thank you so SO much! I wish I could hug each of you! ❤️❤️❤️
