#ScrapMyWeek | No. 11-13

Whew!  Catchin’ up… catchin’ up!!  Only have two more layouts to create, and then I’ll be right on schedule.  But who am I kidding?  You’ll probably see those in May.  😉

However, let’s look at what I DO have done, shall we?  First up, a layout about Nadia’s new duvet cover… that you can color.

For this page, I used this deliciously beautiful paper from the Maggie Holmes “Gather” collection.  I actually didn’t want it to sit entirely flat, so I cut along the edge of some of the waves to separate the paper.  But after piecing it back together and gluing it down to white cardstock, I crinkled up some of the edges to add just a hint of dimension.  Subtle details like that are what I love so much about papercrafting!For the rest of the page, I just played around a bit, and just as usual I accidentally found the correct placement of the embellishments and photos- I was about to give up because I couldn’t get the look I was wanting, but then I unintentionally bumped the paper, making everything shift just enough to do the trick.  I think it might be God’s way of intervening so I stop obsessing and move on.  LOL!
So anyways, this is #11…

How about #12:

Can I be honest?  I don’t even like this layout.  It’s got the cute-factor, so that’s the only part of it that has kept me from taking it apart.  But I think it’s finally safe for me to say this- I don’t like working on blank white pages.  For whatever reason, I like the look of it when other people scrapbook on white… and I enjoy a blank white page in a journal.  But a 12×12 scrapbook layout?  Eh, no.  No, no, no.  Just doesn’t work for me.
But anyways, enough complaining.  😉  This layout is about Nadia’s first lost tooth.  (I can’t believe it’s already time for her to lose teeth!  How did this happen?!) And the part that cracks me up about this page is that I was trying to get rid of the white space after I glued everything down… so I pulled out my trusty inks to splatter a little on the edges.  Silly me thought I was being careful and wouldn’t need to cover the photo.  Yeah right!  I got a big splatter beside her head and two little ones on her nose!  She saw this and rushed to a mirror to see if she actually had two freckles on her nose that she might have overlooked for the past 6 years.  LOL!!!
  No, kid- just your mama being clumsy with inks… again.  Not the first time this has happened.  Probably not the last either!  😉

And on to #13- this one was fun to make!

This is one of my favorite things about scrapbooking- this layout is purely nonsensical.  It follows no structure, probably breaks every rule in the book, and it didn’t take a whole lot of thinking to make.  In fact, I made this with Nadia.  And it was the most fun I’ve had in my craft studio in a long time!  🙂

For this page, I pulled all sorts of fun embellishments from my stash and filled up those little mini Polaroid squares.  Then I used Pop Dots to add dimension to the tiny photo squares.
I added in a little bit of silly journaling, and that was it!  Nadia really did help a lot, and I think she did a good job!  🙂
